Grand Opening of Jon-William Brown’s Art Gallery/Showroom

‘Halloween/Samhain Exhibit’

Local artist/photographer Jon-William Brown will be hosting a grand opening reception of his gallery showroom with a special Halloween/Samhain exhibit on Monday evening, October 31, 2005 from 7-10 p.m. at 3 State Street, studio A1. The exhibit will feature two new limited edition prints entitled ‘Remembering’, as well as the latest addition to his Newburyport collection, ‘Market Square Harvest’. Jon-William will celebrate the opening of his first Newburyport gallery showroom with this special event unveiling of his new designs at 7 p.m. on Halloween night, and will be open to the general public. Beyond the grand opening event, the exhibit will run through November 4, 2005 and will be available for special viewing by appointment only. Market Square Harvest’, along with a Newburyport series gift line, will also be featured at an art show on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the Newbury Firehouse reception hall.

On the eve which is symbolic of the thinnest point of the year of the ‘veil between the two worlds’, this Halloween/Samhain (end of summer) event seeks to integrate Jon-William’s past collections of mythology, astrology, and angelic realm renditions, with that of his latest expressions within his ‘Newburyport; A Contemporary Perspective’ collection. The Newburyport series includes digital art renditions of some of the most captured scenes in Newburyport by photographers and artist throughout the years. This latest rendition of Market square is a prelude to his Market Square Christmas’ that is due out in December. See and collect these art works of this quaint and charming historic seaport. Celebrate Newburyport not only as a landmark city, but also as a growing community.

‘Remembering’ is a commissioned piece, and is based on a rendition of the Aztec mythological deity, Quazecoatal – the winged one’ at a time in which his kingdom faces total destruction. It depicts the last moment within the embrace of his soul mate before re-entering the portal which would transport him to another dimension, ultimately forever seeking the re-union,” Jon-William explains. He goes on to state that, “These collections may seem like they are ‘worlds apart’, but they are really not. What I feel we are witnessing now is the integration of many alternate ‘realities’, in order to create a new one. Even the Newburyport collections seem to have a very ‘surreal’ quality to them that seeks to fuse the old with the new.”

Jon-William has spent several years perfecting this particular technique that combines digital photography, computer editing, and printmaking in order to produce this cutting edge collection of fine art Giclee prints that includes a gift product line. These collections may also be viewed online at his ‘SunSpirit Gallery’ web site, www.sunspiritgallery.com.
